With the festivities just around the corner now is the time to give you the lowdown of what's to come next month as we prepare a whole host of Christmas activities and events.
As ever the children will have the opportunity to take part in a whole host of Arts and Crafts activities, from producing their own Christmas cards to creating calendars and other festive decorations. During the festive period their will also be ample of chances to show-off their vocals as children of all ages will take part in a number festive jingles and songs.
Hanukkah Celebrations: (2nd December to 10th December)
Over the course of the first week of December Flore Day Nursery will be embracing the Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah, as the Children will get the opportunity to learn all about the history and cultural values that embody this holiday. Throughout this week the Children will be able to make menorah pictures, design star of David lolly stick decorations, make their own dreidel, as well as, playing a number of themed games.
National Sock Day: (Tuesday 4th of December)
National Sock Day on December 4 recognizes the rarest of all lasting unities, the marriage of matched socks. When they manage, wash after wash, dry after to dry to keep finding each other through all the chaos, a celebration is certainly in order!
National Gingerbread House Day: (Wednesday 12th of December)
A favorite food of an Armenian monk, Gregory of Nicopolis, brought gingerbread to Europe around 992 AD and taught French Christians to bake it. Gingerbread was often used in religious ceremonies and was baked to be sturdy as it was often molded into images of saints.
We can thank the Brothers’ Grimm for the idea of a gingerbread house through their tale of Hansel and Gretel. It didn’t take long for the German gingerbread guilds to pick up the idea and put it to a more festive use making snowy cottages made from the spicy-sweet treat.
Christmas Jumper Day: (Friday 14th of December)
Flore will be taking part in this years Christmas Jumper Day on the 14th of December 2018 as we invite all children and staff to wear their most festive and jolly jumpers for the day.
Baby Room: Christmas Craft Mornings (17th December @2pm and 21st December @10am)
Flore's Baby Room will be hosting a Craft Morning for families members to join our children in creating some wonderful Christmas decorations to help add a personal touch to the festivities in your home.
Two's Room: Christmas Carol Singing (13th December @2pm and 18th December @10am)
This year Flore's Two Room are organising two Christmas Carol singalongs where the Children will be split into two groups to perform some Christmas classics for family and friends. Further information will be provided closer to the event.
Pre-School: Christmas Concert (11th December @2pm and 20th December @9:30am)
The Pre-School will be also getting their best singing voices ready as they will be hosting a concert to help family and friends attending really get into a Christmassy mood. Likewise, further information will be made available surrounding when your child will be performing.
