Everyone at Ketton Road is very excited to announce that after months of planning Forest School will be officially starting in the month of October and taking place every Monday. All children that attend Pre-School on Monday’s will be experiencing a unique curriculum centred upon the six principals of Forest School and designed to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.
Each Monday Pre-School will spend the entirety of the day within our natural wooded environment and our dedicated outdoor educational classroom located in the log cabin. Over the last few months myself and Climbing High’s Curriculum Lead Tej Bhatt who is also a qualified Forest School Lead, have been creating a Forest School Curriculum aimed at developing, where appropriate, the physical, social, cognitive, linguistic, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of the learner within a natural environment. At the heart of everything we do will be the children’s interest and desire to explore the natural world, whilst having the freedom to take managed risks.
Should interest outweigh the space we currently have available we will explore a second Forest School day later in the year, but for now every Monday will be dedicated to our Forest School Curriculum. Throughout the week all children within the nursery will still be utilising the log cabin and wooded area, taking part in activities as normal within our wonderful natural environment.
Should any of our current Pre-School parents be interested in their child attending Forest School then please drop us an email via firstname.lastname@example.org
