Over recent weeks the Two's have been focusing on the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', as the children have taken part in a number of different activities inspired by the story.
The Children have listened to the story and explored the illustrations within the book, helping to promote their development and interest around reading. Inspiring the children to get excited about books and reading is a vital component to their development.
Not only did the children explore the story of the Hungry Caterpillar but they also took part in a number of activities influenced by his journey. Just like the Hungry Caterpillar the children have also had the opportunity to taste a variety of foods, encouraging a willingness to try new foods, textures and tastes.
The story also inspired the children to explore the great outdoors as they took part in a bug hunt, looking for caterpillars, butterflies and other exciting insects. Exploring the wildlife our gardens and fields have to offer helps to further develop the children's understanding and appreciation of all 'living things'.
Whilst in the classroom, the children have had the opportunity to take part in a variety of art and craft activities based on the story. We have explored a variety of different materials in order to re-create images from the story by using our imaginations and creativity.
